Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- Upper age: 35 years as on 12 January 2026 (born on or after 13 January 1991)
- Relaxations: 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 5 years for SC (in reserved posts); for PwBD (Store Keeper & Assistant only): Up to 10 years (UR), 13 years (OBC), 15 years (SC); Ex-servicemen: As per GoI rules, max 45 years.
Educational Qualification & Experience
All posts require a minimum 60% marks in the qualifying exam. Experience is post-qualification and reckoned as on 12 January 2026 (minimum 2-4 years depending on post, in shipyard/engineering/government setups). Key examples:
- Senior Ship Draftsman (All Disciplines): 3-year Diploma in relevant engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation) + 2 years experience as Draftsman. Desirable: 3D modeling like Tribon/CADMATIC.
- Junior Technical Assistant (Mechanical): Diploma in Mechanical Engg. + 4 years in installation/commissioning of mechanical systems. Desirable: HVAC, firefighting, etc.
- Laboratory Assistant (Mechanical): Diploma in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engg. + 4 years in testing/QC. Desirable: NDT certifications.
- Store Keeper: Graduate with PG Diploma in Materials Mgmt. or Diploma in Mech/Elec Engg. + 4 years in storekeeping.
- Assistant: Bachelor’s in Arts/Science/Commerce/Computer Apps/Business Admin + 4 years in office work/ERP.
Higher qualifications like B.Tech without the specified diploma won’t qualify. Apprenticeship counts as experience.
Salary and Benefits
- Pay Scales:
- W6: ₹22,500 – 73,750
- W7: ₹23,500 – 77,000
- Approximate Monthly Emoluments (including DA 51.80%, HRA 20%, Conveyance ₹2,400):
- W6: ₹41,055
- W7: ₹42,773

Selection Process
- For Senior Ship Draftsman: Phase I – Objective Online Test (70 marks: General 20 + Discipline 50); Phase II – Practical Test in CAD (30 marks). Minimum pass: 50% (UR), 45% (OBC), 40% (SC) per phase.
- For Other Posts: Objective Online Test (70 marks: General 20 + Discipline 50) + Descriptive Online Test (30 marks, Discipline). Minimum pass as above; PwBD: 40% for reserved posts.
Tests in Kerala centers. Shortlisting based on eligibility; rank lists valid for 18 months.
