Educational Qualifications
The eligibility criteria for JTET 2026 are as follows:
Primary Level Teachers (Classes 1 to 5)
Candidates must have completed 10+2 (Intermediate) with at least 50% marks (or 45% as per NCTE rules). Additionally, they should possess or be pursuing one of the following:
- A 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/BTC).
- A 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- A 2-year Diploma in Special Education.
Alternatively, candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree and currently pursuing or having completed a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education are also eligible.
Upper Primary Teachers (Classes 6 to 8)
Applicants must fulfill at least one of the following educational requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree along with or pursuing a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/BTC).
- A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks (or 45% as per NCTE rules) and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), L.T., or Shiksha Shastri degree.
- 10+2 qualification with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.El.Ed, B.A.Ed, or B.Sc.Ed program.
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed in Special Education.
- A Master’s degree with 55% marks and a 3-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed course.
